Wellness visit is an excellent opportunity to take care of your health. Routine health care visits can help find problems early or prevent health problems before they occur. If problems are found early, they may be easier to treat and less likely to pose serious risks to your health. Preventive health care includes Pelvic Exam, Pap smear, Breast Exam, Mammogram, Counselling about Contraception or any other issue you have.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Sexually transmitted diseases are caused by bacterial or viral infections and spread by sexual contact. Millions of people get affected each year. Some of the most common STD are – Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Genital herpes, HIV, HPV, Trichomonas, Syphilis and hepatitis B. People more likely to get STD are with – Multiple sexual partners, Partner who has or who had multiple partners, sex with someone who has STD, Use of IV drugs.

Sexual health

Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality , Sexual problem can include lack of desire , arousal ,orgasmic and sexual pain disorder Common causes may include aging , hormonal changes , stress and anxiety , relationship problems , depression and past negative sexual experience

Adolescence

Menopause is time in woman’s life, when she stops having menstrual cycle. As menopause nears ovaries make less estrogen which can cause irregular bleeding. Menopausal problem may include but not limited to hot flashes, abnormal uterine bleeding, urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, bone loss, increase risk of heart attack and emotional changes.

Menopause

As per ACOG recommendation, girls should have their first gynecologic visit between ages of 13 to 15 years. Following topics can be discussed during visit. Contraception, immunization, sexuality , menstrual periods, acne weight, STD , alcohol drugs and smoking, emotions up and downs, and healthy lifestyles.

Breast care

Screening for breast problems include mammography, clinical breast exam and breast self-awareness. Breast self-awareness is an understanding of how your breasts normally look and feel, clinical breast exam is done by your health provider. Women aged 29-39 should have a clinical breast exam every 1-3 years. Women aged 40 years and older should have one every year. Mammograms to be started at age 40 or earlier based on risk factors
